In a decisive move against terrorism, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK), has delivered a significant blow to insurgent forces in the Lake Chad Basin.

On November 23, 2024, NAF fighter jets conducted a high-precision air raid on Jubillaram, a notorious terrorists enclave in the Tumbuns area.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, and made available to The Hope.

He described the operation as a testament to the force’s unwavering commitment to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and citizens.

According to the statement, the operation targeted a critical food storage facility and hideouts used by terrorists commanders and fighters responsible for recent attacks, including the assault on troops in Kareto on November 16.

The mission was meticulously planned, following days of intensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) activities. ISR reports confirmed the presence of terrorists structures concealed beneath dense vegetation.

Acting on this intelligence, NAF jets destroyed the storage facilities and neutralised numerous terrorists on the ground. A follow-up mop-up operation using air cannons ensured fleeing elements were eliminated, leaving no opportunity for regrouping.

The successful strike not only obliterated the terrorists’ logistical hub but also significantly weakened their operational capabilities. The loss of food supplies and the elimination of key fighters are expected to disrupt future attacks and destabilise their activities in the region.

Air Commodore Akinboyewa reiterated the NAF’s commitment to sustaining robust air and joint counterterrorism efforts until all threats to the nation’s security are eradicated.

The operation underscores the Nigerian military’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace to affected regions. As the campaign against insurgency intensifies, the NAF remains a vital force in ensuring the safety and prosperity of Nigeria.
