NAFDAC to sensitise food vendors
By Fatimah Muraina
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said it has concluded arrangement to sensitise food vendors operating in Ondo state.
The NAFDAC State Coordinator, Mr Kenneth Azikiwe made this known in a telephone chat with The Hope in Akure, the Ondo state capital yesterday.
Azikiwe said his organisation has met with the head of food vendors who promised to get her members ready for the sensitization.
He noted that the sensitization is to train them to discourage the use of paracetamol as a food tenderliser in cooking.
This, he observed, is dangerous and an abuse of the drug which is used for the treatment of mild illness, moderate pains from headaches, backaches, tooth aches, menstrual pains and to reduce fever.
He, however, called on the food vendors to make themselves available and to make use of the opportunity granted them.
He said the training would be a continuous one to ensure that all the food vendors across the state are well sensitised to avoid the use of paracetamol as a tenderliser for cooking.
