By Sulyman Pakoyi

The Ondo State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has expressed its commitment to partnering with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to combat human trafficking.

During a courtesy visit to the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, the State Commander of NAPTIP, Mr. Waheed Adegboyega Taiwo, stated that the agency aims to adopt effective measures to protect and eradicate trafficking in persons and related offences. He emphasised that NAPTIP owes Nigerians adequate information on the dangers of human trafficking.

Taiwo highlighted the need for collaboration with the NYSC to sensitise Corps members on the various forms of trafficking. He assured that the partnership would be effectively implemented for the benefit of both organisations, adding that the NYSC remains an indispensable institution that commands the respect of Nigerians.

In response, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, welcomed the initiative and described the collaboration as long overdue.

She reaffirmed NYSC’s commitment to working with reputable organisations that align with the Scheme’s objectives and vision.

“”NYSC is known globally as a useful and potent avenue to mould and mentor the graduate youths of this country into responsible and compassionate leaders of tomorrow. Your visit is not misplaced, and I want to assure you that we shall support your aspirations and render necessary assistance,” she said.

Bakare also urged NAPTIP to facilitate the partnership process through its headquarters and the NYSC Directorate Headquarters. She reiterated her administration’s readiness to invest in laudable programmes that promote youth development and position Corps members as positive role models in society.
