An Akure based legal practitioner, Mr Charles Titiloye,  has condemned the insinuation that the National Assembly Election held on  February 23 it was marred by vote buying .

Titiloye, who described the election as an act of moving gradually to our Democratic system, said “the elections may not be perfect but to some extent  INEC was able to get some level of fairness in the election”.

“From the overall results that came out, there are some political parties, which ordinarily did not have the resources to buy votes, but won.”

“In the case of Ondo State, ADC and SDP  won Ondo town and Idanre/Ifedore federal constituencies,  and these are not parties/candidates that have the financial muscles we are talking about, they are relatively known without any financial strength”.

“As far as I am concerned, that position was very wrong that the election was marred by vote buying.  It is an unfounded allegation. The election was a reflection of the wish of the people”.

” Akpabio,  who lost in Akwa Ibom State,  can we say he does not have the financial strength to pull the election through, afterall he has spent eight years as a Governor of that state and some years in the National Assembly? So, therefore, the issue of money is not the real thing here, but people must have their say in the election so far.

“Those who lost in the election should accept defeat, election is never a do or die affairs. Election is a contest that can only produce one winner at a time, he admonished.
