The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has said the oppositions cannot have two third votes of lawmakers-elect to elect the speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

He said the oppositions do not have the number to compete with the APC over the leadership of the lower chambers.

In an interview with The Hope, the State Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro, noted that it was incumbent on the oppositions at the green chamber to align with the APC which has majority legislators-elect than to work with themselves without certainty to produce speaker and other principal officers of the house.

According to him, oppositions would rather prefer negotiating with the APC for them to be given some positions or committees which is as good as being accepted.

“We are so confident that they will rather want to work with the strongest party than to work with themselves.

“We can easily dangle some committees before them. It is as good as being accepted.

“We have the number and figure, the only thing that can deter us is a divided house. But the supremacy of the party is important as our lawmakers-elect cannot go against the leadership of the party,”

Otaloro pointed out that there may be sanction for whoever does otherwise to the plan of the party in electing the leadership of the lower chamber.

He added that whoever the party wants to be the speaker of the house will be spelt out for its members to vote for, saying that the era of disobedience or rascality among party members has gone.
