Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has assured sports lovers across the country that National Sports Festival (NSF) will hold in April.
The National Sports Festival has suffered several postponement before the new April date is arrived, the hope and aspiration of Nigerian athletes is that the new date should not be changed as usual.
The Minister in an interview with Journalists during the Athletic Federation of Nigeria Evaluation competition held at Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure noted that the National Sports Festival is our own Olympics.
He added that with the cooperation receiving from the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID -19, Edo State Government, and Health Ministry, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) it is certain that the national fiesta will hold in Edo State.
According to him, “it’s my greatest desire that we hold the National Sports Festival in the interest of Nigeria Sports development.
“The Festival is going to be a great factor that will determine our performance at the Tokyo Olympics in July.
“Grassroots sports development is the bedrock of any successful sports development,” he said.
