National Tennis Coach warns players against use of banned substances

Nigeria junior tennis coach, Ubale Mohammed has appealed to players and officials of the Ondo State Tennis Association not to use banned substances.

He charged them to be cleaned, resist match fixing and focus on their developmental program that made the state number one in talent discovery.

He added “that Ondo State is blessed with abundant talents that have made the country proud in the past, and currently doing fine in such direction.

The current Chairman of the Ondo state Tennis Association, Stephenson Olateru-Olagbegi ,Rolake Olateru -Olagbegi ,Anu Ayegbusi ,Omolade Aderemi were all discover in the Sunshine state.

Mohammed stated this while speaking with journalists during his training tour to Ondo state at the Ondo State sports complex.

While commending the state association for producing talents and national players such as Anu Aiyegbusi and many more he encouraged the coaches and players not to relent on their oars and to also be more committed.

Mohammed appealed to the state government for a quick renovation of the state tennis court which he said was not too good for a state that has been producing talents.

He, however, said his visit to the state afforded him the opportunity to pencil down some players that would be invited to the national camp slated for August  in Abuja.

“My advice for the upcoming players is for them to be focused, committed to their training and ensure they do not involve in any use of ban drugs.”

Also speaking,the chairman Ondo state Tennis association and a former player Mr Stephenson Olateru-Olagbegi said short term and long term programs have been listed for the players in the state to help them attain thier potential.

Many players mostly of the junior categories participated in the one day training exercise at the Ondo state sports complex under the guide of the state coaches and officials and the national coach.
