NCWS seek help for woman brutalized by husband
The Ondo State chapter of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), has appealed to the Ondo State Government, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye II, security agencies and other women groups in the state, to rise up in defence of Mrs. Damilola Olanipekun, who was brutalized by her husband, Kehinde Olanipekun, on allegation of sexual harassment of their 14-year-old step- daughter.
NCWS team led by the state President, Bishop Mrs. Odusola Oluseyi Oluwakemi, while condemning the act, said all hands must be on deck to arrest the culprit and serve justice to the victim.
The Hope had reported that Olanipekun, now at large, reportedly attacked his wife with a machete a few days ago in their residence in Owo, when she confronted him over allegations of sexually harassing his 14-year-old step-daughter.
According to her, the brutalized woman needs not just emotional support, but also medication and funds to take care of herself.
While making a cash presentation of N40,000, Bishop (Mrs) Odusola also called on other well meaning Nigerians to help the woman by donating money for her upkeep.
Responding to the gesture, Mrs. Olanipekun thanked NCWS, just as she appealed to other well meaning Nigerians to come to her aid as she would require nothing less than N2.6million to cover treatment expenses.
The victim was said to have been rushed by her neighbours to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, but was later referred to another hospital due to the injuries inflicted on her by the fleeing suspect.
