NDE trains youths on EBTS in Ondo
No fewer than 60 youths are undergoing training on 2023 Environmental Beautification Training Scheme, EBTS, by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Ondo State.
Declaring the training open, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubarkar Nuhu Fikpo said the scheme will combat the menace of unemployment in the country and reduce poverty.
Represented by the Ondo State Coordinator of NDE, Mr. O.M. Adelodun, Fikpo said the scheme will boost job creation through Small Scale Enterprises Development.
“One of the strategies adopted by the NDE in this regard is through the mandate on Small Scale Enterprises Development. Owners of Small Scale Enterprises play pivotal roles in the economic growth and development of any nation whether developed or developing.”
“The objectives of EBTS design is to input appropriate vehicle to implement strategic policy actions, towards improving employability of our youths, closing the skills gaps, through targeted skill-to-job trainings, building a competent workforce of technicians and artisans, and providing the required incentives for the informal private landscaping services.
Furthermore, EBTS will also boost job creation and public works programmes through the empowerment of some of its successful participants with starter’s packs at the end of training to start their own personal business(s).
Fikpo who said the programme was designed by the Federal Government to curb mass unemployment, averred that it is designed to train the unemployed youths on the rudiments of business management and how to set up small scale enterprises as well as inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship on the participants
According to him, the training is to orientate their minds, thereby enabling them to manage their micro business effectively and efficiently.
He thanked the Federal Government and the good people of Ondo State for their support and good working relationship with the NDE over the years.
