NDLEA nabs cannabis suspect

In continuation of the special exercise towards redding  the state of illicit drugs before, during and after the general election tagged “operation Ijo Oloogbo” ( Cat Dance), the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agencies has arrested a suspect and seized 260 bags of Cannabis sativa weighing 2,330kg.

The state Commander Mr Haruna Gagara, who made the disclosure in an interview with The Hope Metro at the Command’s headquarters in Akure said,” These barons have now changed their mode of operation by hiding these drugs in the towns and not in the thick forests anymore.

 “In the early hours of February 13 the Command raided a warehouse at Oke -Aro area of Akure,  where we nabbed a suspect with large quantities of sativa of 260 bags weighing 2,330kgs.

The NDLEA boss advised warehouse owners not to allow their outlets to be used as cannabis outlets  warning that  violators should be ready to face the consequences.

He assured all residents of the state that NDLEA will continue to work with other security agencies for violence -free elections. He thanked the state government on its support to the command in  fighting against illicit drugs trafficking in the state.
