NDLEA storms drug dens, seizes illicit substances, weapons

No fewer than 22 suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, during coordinated raids on notorious drug hotspots across the state.
The operation, led by the State Commander, CN AI Ahmad, was carried out in identified flashpoints including Dan’agundi Construction Site, Gwangwazo Area, Farm Centre along Zaria Road, Tashar Rami, and Filin Idi.
Spokesman of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, who disclosed this in a statement, said the raid also led to the confiscation of various illicit drugs and dangerous items.
He listed the seized substances to include Cannabis Sativa, toxic inhalants such as “suck and die” and rubber solution, as well as locally fabricated weapons.
Maigatari said the suspects were currently undergoing investigation to identify drug peddlers among them, with a view to prosecuting those found culpable in line with extant laws.
“Individuals identified as users rather than dealers will be referred to our Drug Demand Reduction Unit for counselling and rehabilitation,” he stated.
According to him, the command remains committed to strategic enforcement measures aimed at tackling drug abuse and its attendant security implications in the state.
The State Commander, Ahmad, reiterated the agency’s resolve to rid Kano communities of drug-related threats, urging members of the public to partner with the NDLEA by providing actionable intelligence on drug activities.
