NDSF: Edema wins gold in 400metres para-athletics, increases Ondo medals tally

Esther Edema has won another gold in female 400metres Para- Athletics to increase team Ondo gold medals to four at the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival in Akwa Ibom.

Esther Edema had earlier clinched bronze medal in women’s 100metres para- athletics, while Oluwafemi Sunday settled for Silver in men’s 100, metres.

The duo of Oluwatimilehin Doko and Tolu Ogundolire added another two gold medals in Scrabble Masters category and in the women’s para-powerlifting 45kg category respectively.

While Kayode Blessing also clinched another gold in 65KG para- powerlifting to increase team Ondo’s gold tally to four .

Just as Olsehinde Olalekan and Steven Akintewe clinched silvers in wrestling 57kg and 65kg respectively and Tunde Saporu settled for bronze in the Scrabble Masters category.

Emeka Promise Simeon also secured a silver medal in the men’s 1500m T53/54 para-athletics event.

Boluwaji Akinniwesi (male) and Marvelous Otemuyiwa (female) both settled for silver medals in traditional wrestling, in the 60kg and 70kg categories, respectively.

The duo of Alice Paul and Adesewa Olaniyan lost 4-0, 4-2 to their Akwa Ibom counterparts, Favour James and Etoro Bassey to settle for Silver medal in tennis doubles.while

Imole Adisa coasted home with a bronze medal men’s single.

Kafayat Azeez clinched a bronze medal in the female 60kg category, having lost to Imo State in the semi-final.

Peter Ezuba won silver in the men’s singles, while Ojo Funmilayo bagged bronze in the women’s table tennis category.

Patient Nigeria won two bronze in 200 metres freestyle and 50 metres freestyle.

As at the time of filling this report, Team Ondo has won four gold, nine silver and six bronze medals taking their tally to 20.
