African Scrabble Champion, Oluwatimilehin Doko has disclosed that quality of Scrabble players taking part in the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival was the reason he decided to represent Ondo State.
In a chat with newsmen at Godswill Akpabio international Stadium, Akwa Ibom, Doko added that Niger Delta can boast of a rich collection of good players, saying participating in the festival will improve his game.
He said: “I have played some of them and it was not easy triumphing even though I am an African Champion.
“It is an honour representing Ondo State. I am from Idanre in Ondo State and I cannot just sit down and not take part in the festival.
“I cannot quantify the lessons I will take home from the festival and I want to do my best in Uyo,” he said.
He became the African Master Champion in Rwanda, in October, 2024.
He is a Pharmacy graduate of the University of Lagos.
