Establishing Shasha markets is to facilitate accessibility to various commodities and reduce cost of  the products.

The Chairman of the new Shaha Market along Ondo road, Alhaji Sule Yunusa stated this  in an interview with The Hope in Akure.

Yunusa said the new market was established by the Hausa community  trading at the Iloro market with a view of making available various food items to the people of the state.

He noted that the  Hausa traders bring in their goods  at affordable prices from the northern part of the country .

For those who could not, Yunusa said they will be forced to buy at Iloro  Tomatoe market.

According to him, the new Shasha location  is to complement the existing market as well as ensure that all the people can buy and access produce at a cheaper rate.

Yunusa  explained that the Shasha came as a result of a fraction that moved from the old Iloro Market to establish the new Shasha  market.

The new Shasha, Yunusa further explained is capable of accommodating all the Hausa traders within the state, saying that over 450 hectares of land were earmarked for the market construction.

He noted that the market was specifically established for Tomatoes sales,  said other food items are also available in the market.

“There is a section for cattle dealers who will be selling cows to the people. Dangote has also partnered with the market to supply manufactured products.

He said the market is still test running, as indicated by low patronage, Yunusa called on the people to patronise traders in the market which he said they sell at affordable prices.
