The Ondo State Football Association election earlier scheduled for yesterday had been put on hold .
Sporting Hope gathered that the election was aborted in connection to a letter signed for the General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Muhammed Sanusi by Mr Onoja Joshua, titled flagrant violation of statutes and electoral regulations, to the FA in the state.
The letter read in unedited; “its my instruction to inform you that the Nigeria Football Federation is in receipt of a letter from six (6)Board members of the Ondo State Football Association alleging among other things that the Chairman Ondo state Football Association, Otunba Dele Ajayi in collaboration with the secretary of the FA, Mr Daodu Alex, convened meeting to agree on the agenda.
“Also, that the reconstitution of the compromised electoral and election Appeal committees, list of delegates to vote at the local football councils and to prepare an acceptable electoral guidelines was also done without the knowledge of the said Board members .
“The alleged individuals are requested to forward their response to the allegation to enable us resolve the issues raised.”
Secretary of the association in Ondo state, Mr Daodu Alex, when contacted on phone confirmed the postponement of the election, saying the election will be conducted before the end of the week .
He however said the association and those being accused would respond to the letter before the close of work yesterday.
We have to respond to the letter before going ahead with the elections. That is why we first put the elections on hold,” the FA Secretary said.
