Niger Delta Sports Festival: NDDC inaugurates organising committees

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has inaugurated the Central and Local Organising Committees for the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival, set to take place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from April 1 to 9, 2025.
The festival, a flagship sports development programme, aims to harness talent for human capital development in the Niger Delta region beyond oil.
NDDC Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, who co-chairs the Main Organising Committee, urged members to see their nominations as an opportunity to serve their region with commitment and dedication.
Key Committee Members:
Central/Main Organising Committee: Alabo Boma Iyaye (Chairman), Itiako Ikpokpo (Co-Chairman), and 15 other members from NDDC and the consultant, Dunamis Icon Limited.
Local Organising Committee: Chairmen of sub-committees include Mr Enefiok Udo-Ubong (Technical), Engr. Evong Moduck Evong (Accommodation), and 11 others.
The nine Commissioners of Sports from the Niger Delta region’s nine mandate states, including Ondo, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Imo, Abia, Delta, and Edo, have also been inaugurated as members of the Main Organising Committee to oversee their respective states’ liaisons.
The festival will feature over 15 sports, with NDDC providing almost 95% of the funding as part of its 25th-anniversary celebration.
