The Brigade Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, Brigadier General Muktar Adamu has declared that the nation expects selfless service from the Corps members.

The Army Chief made the declaration when he visited the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko as part of his working tour to Akoko Division to study the security architecture of the state.

General Adamu said that the security of citizens and residents of the country is of paramount importance to the Federal Government, noting that the Corps members have a role to play in ensuring that they assist the security agencies to give them total protection.

I want to reiterate the commitment of the Federal Government to provide water tight security for her citizens which by extension, you are an integral part and I want to abide by the security tips provided for you by the Scheme and from the lectures delivered by the security experts”.

“Federal Government is not relenting at improving on the security apparatus that will make all Nigerians to be safe irrespective of where they find themselves. But government is continuously sensitising Nigerians on the better ways to tackle the challenges facing the nation”.

He advised the corps members to carefully study their environment and appealed to them to refrain from ostentatious living which according to him may attract undesirable elements in the society to take advantage of them.

The Security Chief encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the robust relationships between the Nigerian Army and the Scheme to safeguard their  lives by contacting the military formations contiguous to them whenever they face any challenges.

The one star General who reported for duties not long ago while promising to build on the relationship existing between the two Federal Government institutions said that the military formations under his watch will continue to provide surveillance for the Scheme in the state.

He charged the corps members to look in the direction of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme which according to him will pay their bills and make them independent.

While welcoming the Brigade Commander, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani heaped accolades on the General for being the first to personally pay a working visit to the camp during orientation course.

The State Coordinator while admonishing the corps members to see the visit as a demonstration of commitment which the military is known for and the priority attention placed on the NYSC, charged them to keep to heart the words of wisdom that would be coming from the one star General.

Mrs. Ani wished the Brigade Commander a successful tenure in the Sunshine State and said that she would be calling on the Cantonment from time to time.

The corps members mounted Quarter Guard to usher in the General while the NYSC Parade Band played the General’s salute. The representative from the SAED class presented him with a gift.
