Nigeria, Moses win Swimming, Tennis awards

The duo of Patience Nigeria and Olamilekan Moses has won most outstanding players in the maiden edition of swimming and Tennis competition organised by the Ondo State Ministry of Education Science and Technology.

Patience Nigeria won the outstanding awards in Swimming while Moses Olamilekan won in the Lawn tennis .

The Competition was put together by the Ministry to discover the Talents of the Students and winners that will represent the State in both National and International Competitions.

The swimming competition was of different categories of 50 metres freestyle , 50 metres breastroke , 200 hundred metres individuals medley ,4/50 mixed medley relay, 50/metres backstroke, 50/metres butterfly all the competitions features was divided into boys and girls, junior and senior categories respectively.

Nigeria showed outstanding talent as she won gold in 50 metres backstroke female, silver in 50 metres butterfly, 50 metres freestyle and 100 metres freestyle.

In the tennis , Aderonke Adeyemi won gold for central Senatorial district while Tamilore Akererele and Idowu Lagundoye went home with silver and bronze for the North and Southern Senatorial district in female categories.

In the male categories Moses Olamilekan was crowned with gold medal for Southern part if the state , Adeniyi Roland and Nasiru Yakubu won silver and bronze for the Central and Northern senatorial districts respectively.

Earlier the commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu while interacting with the newsmen , said the aim of the competition was to catch the kids young .

He added that , the lads had already gotten the basics , overtime , if we can nurture them , they will become great .

We are going to synergize with the Ministry of Sports and Mrs Betty Akeredolu’s tennis clinic to take them to the climax of their career .
