Nigeria must unite to fight insecurity – Arogundade

The Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Jude Arogundade has called for unity among the three geopolitical zones in Nigeria to fight insecurity especially in the Southwest region of the country.
The Bishop made the call at cathedraticum mass in anticipation of the 2021 Holy Thursday held at Lady of Lourdes Cathon Monday.
He condemned in totality the activities of the herdsmen in the Southwest, urging the people to be courageous in rebuking their attacks.
“We have to safe our land from the attacks of the herdsmen. We must be courageous and determined to fight the course. In unity we can conquer.
“We must all work together to develop Nigeria. We should all stand for the truth and justice to improve the current situation of the country.”
He also called on the Catholic faithful to always work for the development of the church and their faith.
According to him; “The church could not gather last year to celebrate due to COVID-19 pandemic but we are thankful to God for allowing us to gather this year to worship; God will perfectly cleanse the land.
“Catholic church brought development through establishment of schools, hospitals among others. The church will continue to do its part to bring development to Ondo State and Nigeria in particular.
“I want to thank the people for helping me to continue to promote the work of God in the diocese. We all have the responsibility to protect and promote the church,” the Bishop said.
Arogundade explained that the church is determined to make youth self-reliant adding that over 200 youths have benefited from church youth empowerment programme.
“We are doing everything possible to engage the youths through our empowerment programmes. Also, Sisters of Eucharist Heart of Jesus will soon start training youths in different forms of skills while the charity work of the church remain a priority,” he said.
