‘Nigeria needs qualified teachers to revive education standard’

Jimoh Ahmed, Owo.

An educationist, Mrs Florence Bammeke has advocated for  increased budgetary provision for the education sector in the country.

Mrs Bammeke made the call in a chat with The Hope at Ugbe Akoko .

She also called for improvement on security efforts and mass recruitment of qualified teachers as panacea for the falling standard of education in the country.

According to her, no nation can develop without education as it is the engine room for rapid development.

She stated that investment in education is so enormous that the government needs the support of non-governmental organisations, corporate bodies, parents and teachers associations as well as old students to achieve more meaningful projects in the industry.

The educationist condemned the incessant strikes, kidnapping of teachers and pupils that are rampant in some parts of the country, saying they are all wrong signals towards achieving UNESCO goals.

Mrs Bammeke commended the efforts of old students of schools in revamping their Alma mater and the Parents/Teachers Association of Nigeria for being a solid partner with governments.
