It was with great shock and grief that the Board and members of the Nigeria Olympic Committee received the news of the sudden death of veteran sports administrator and former Secretary General of Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, who passed on recently at the age of 65 years.
There is no doubt that despite his sudden passage to the great beyond, Chief Ogunjobi has left lasting footprints in the sand of times, especially as it relates to Nigerian Football where he has clearly distinguished himself. He will no doubt be missed by sporting Nigeria and his numerous admirers.
On behalf of the Board and members of Nigeria Olympic Committee, we extend our heart-felt condolence to the family of late Chief Ogunjobi as we pray the Almighty to grant you all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
Meanwhile the Ondo State Football Association has described the sudden demise of the Chairman of Osun State Football Association and former Secretary General and executive committee member of the NFF Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi as shocking.
Late Ogunjobi whose death was announced earlier on Monday morning was reported to have died after a brief illness.
Chairman of the Ondo State FA Otunba Dele Ajayi described the death of Chief Ogunjobi as a very rude shock to the Nigerian Football circle while also expressing condolences to the family of the deceased.
He prayed that God Almighty should grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss even as he also prayed God should accept the soul of the departed in peace.
Otunba Dele Ajayi said the Late Taiwo Ogunjobi was a leader of Nigerian football having played,managed and administered the round leather game at different stages of his lifetime.
The Ondo FA chairman insisted that the late Ogunjobi still had a lot to offer Nigerian football most especially in the South-West Zone where he is a highly respected figure until his death.
The late Chief Taiwo among his numerous exploits in football Captained IICC Shooting Stars in 1984 to play in the finals of the African Champions Cup and featured in the Green Eagles team that played in the finals of AFCON in Ivory Coast, 1984 while he administered Shooting Stars, Gabros International and Julius Berger before rising to become the Secretary General of the then NFA, and later Technical Committee Chairman of the NFF.
