The Nigerian Army has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against terrorism, apprehending four suspected terrorists and seizing a cache of arms and ammunition in the Tau axis of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, Taraba State.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on May 7, 2025, by Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Army’s Public Relations Officer.
The statement highlighted that the successful operation was part of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army’s sustained efforts to counter terrorism and criminal activities in the region.
According to the statement, the operation was triggered by a distress call alerting the military to the movement of armed men into the area. In response, troops quickly deployed to the location, leading to the apprehension of the four suspects.
Three of the arrested individuals were found to be in possession of firearms, indicating their involvement in criminal activities.
Among the items recovered from the suspects were two pump-action rifles, one locally fabricated gun, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and a national identity card.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were allegedly invited into the area by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose role in the matter is still under investigation.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), commended the troops for their prompt and professional response to the situation. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Taraba State and its surrounding regions.
In a call to action, the public was urged to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations and enhance the safety of the community.
