Nigerian Army, NAPTIP deepen collaboration against human trafficking

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling human trafficking and enhancing security in Taraba State through strategic collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, gave this assurance when he hosted the Commander of NAPTIP, Taraba State Command, Mr Amos Gambo Bako, and his team on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni, in a statement made available to Vanguard, said the visit was aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation in the fight against human trafficking.
Speaking during the visit, Bako underscored the need for greater synergy between NAPTIP and the Nigerian Army, particularly in intelligence sharing, security operations, and public enlightenment. He noted that such collaboration was critical in dismantling trafficking syndicates operating within the state.
In his response, Brigadier General Uwa lauded NAPTIP’s efforts in combating human trafficking and assured the agency of the brigade’s unwavering support. He reiterated the army’s resolve to work closely with security agencies to curb child trafficking and other criminal activities.
The Brigade Commander further pledged military assistance in joint operations and intelligence gathering to bolster security efforts.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and public sensitisation to curb human trafficking and related crimes in Taraba State.
