By Tola Gbadamosi

The Nigerian Navy has announced plans to conduct a Small Arms Firing Exercise on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Military Range in Ita-Ogbolu, Akure.

The training will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

According to a statement issued by the Commanding Officer, Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, the exercise is a routine military training activity designed to enhance the weapon-handling proficiency of naval officers and ratings.

“The general public is advised not to panic upon seeing troops moving and hearing the sound of gunshots within the range area,” the statement read.

In light of the exercise, residents, commuters, and farmers within the Ita-Ogbolu general area are strongly advised to steer clear of the range during the specified period for their safety.

The Navy appealed to media outlets and stakeholders to help disseminate this information and translate it into local languages to ensure widespread public awareness.
