Nigerians demand improvement from Super Eagles

As Super Eagles trade tackles with Cameroon in round of 16 of the ongoing African Cup of Nations on Saturday at Stade Felix Houphouet, Abidjan by 9 Pm, Nigerian fans have demanded an improved performance from the senior national team players as they face their usual foe.

Super Eagles had played eight times against indomitable lions of Cameroon since 2004 , winning four ,drew two and lost two.

Mr Akinlabi Olowosagba told Sporting Hope in Akure the state capital, that he was not happy with the performance of the Super Eagles in their first three matches in the ongoing most prestigious African continental competition.

Olowosagba thanked God that luck was on our side in the matches played so far, conceding that there are no minors in African football, saying the 2023 African Cup of Nations is full of surprises.

He added that it was shocking seeing Cape Verde topping a group comprising of big football countries like Egypt, Ghana ,Mozambique and Equatorial  Guinea ahead of Nigeria on the group log after defeating host nation Ivory coast 4-0 in front of their fans .

He said the drama witnessed in the ongoing African Cup of Nations was a testimony to the fact, that no nation can be written off in terms playing and that African football is fast improving, as mighty football nations are falling.”

Another fan, Mr Taju Eniolorunda thanked God for the current position of the Super Eagles, as well as early exit of countries like Ghana, Algeria and Tunisia from the competition.

According to him, “we must tell ourselves the truth, Nigeria needs to start scoring goals and stop wasting chances else, we will pay for it.”

Mrs Seye Akinmolayan called on Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro to wake up and return Super Eagles to what it used to be .

She charged Eagles coaching crew, to change their tactics to more attacking side with precision.

“Our strikers need to be more calm and calculated in front of goal, we created a lot of scoring chances but unable to utilize them, I have no doubt in my mind as a patriotic Nigerian, that we are going to defeat Cameroon tomorrow,” she said.
