Nigerians urged to shun ethnic bigotry, violence
From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo
Nigerians have been enjoined to shun ethnic bigotry, violence and criminality in order to unite and develop the nation.
Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland in Edo and Delta states , Alhaji Olatunde Badmus, made the call while felicitating with Muslims on the Ed el Adha celebration in Osogbo.
Badmus said no country can develop in the face of acrimonies and backbiting.
According to him , kidnapping for ransom, internet fraud, armed banditry, robbery, thuggery and all forms of violence were anti-social activities that could do Nigeria no good.
He stressed the need for the military, the police and other security agencies to continue to review their tactics in combating crimes to make the country safe.
The Islamic scholar observed that without the assurance of safety, foreign investors might be discouraged from investing in Nigeria.
He also charged the youths not to see crime as alternative to unemployment, but rather be innovative, diligent and prayerful to succeed.
He charged all muslims to emulate the fidelity, piety, perseverance, fortitude, forthrightness and faithfulness of Prophet Ibrahim, whose exemplary conduct, Allah used to establish and stamped the origin of Eid ul Adha festival.
