Area of Ondo State, was thrown into mourning yesterday, following the death of a 52-year-old man, who was said to have been stabbed to death by a yet to be identified person in the town.

It was gathered from one of the sources that the late guard had a minor clash with one of his colleagues after resuming for duties on the fateful day, before his lifeless body was later discovered at the Barrack’s road, few kilometers away from his place of work.

It was learnt that the deceased engaged in a serious argument with the said colleague, a development which later resulted in a fisticuf but was later brought under control through the intervention of other residents of the area.

According to another source in the area, who spoke with The Hope under the condition of anonymity, the deceased, a father of two, was said to have resumed duty on the fateful day and allegedly shot his gun in the air repeatedly before his lifeless body was later discovered the following day.

When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident, the lifeless body of the victim was seen lying in the pool of his own blood.

Consequently, shops and other residential buildings located in the area were shut, while some members of the deceased’s family were seen gathered discussing the development in harsh voices. Some were also noticed crying and wailing.

When our correspondent visited the Yaba Divisional Police Station in the town, a senior police officer in the station who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed the incident, adding that the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ondo town.

He said that, though, nobody has been arrested over the matter, investigation had begun.
