Unfortunately they lost out of qualifying for the playoffs in controversial circumstances to their Kwara United Feeder Team opponents on the last day of the campaign.

According to the pairings and fixtures Akure City will equally file out against Rising Stars FC in an Akure derby on match day four, as fans are already salivating for the tie slated for 14, June 2019 at the Ondo State Sports Complex.

Speaking in an exclusive chat the Chief Coach of Akure City Banjo Adepoju said although the fixture pitched them alongside their arch rivals it will only bring out the best in the team as they target to secure the only playoff ticket in the group.

Also speaking the chairman of the club Kingsley Ossai, aka Kaycee, said the team has been motivated for more achievements this season, which was evident with the way they qualified for the state FA Cup final .

Pacesetters FC of Ibadan and Ajiroba Onni FC of Ile-Ife complete the teams in Division C1.
