NLO promotion playoff: Rising Stars promotes to Bet9ja NNL

Rising Stars Football Club of Akure on Saturday promoted to the Bet9ja National League after defeating Kwara United Feeders 2-1 in an interesting encounter at the Aper Aku Stadium, Markurdi.

The match in Makurdi saw Kolade Adeniji scored the first goal of the encounter in the 10th minute before the referee gave penalty to the Kwara United Feeders, which was converted by Hammed Sikiru in the 16th minute.

Rising Stars stepped up their game and got their lead back immediately after Bayo Adefeyinju benefited from a through ball by Kolade Adeniji and scored from inside the box to put his team in the lead in the 25th minute into the half.

However, in the second half, either team could not convert the chances as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Rising Stars, to get promoted to the NNL.

The Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi in a post match interview with newsmen poured encomiums on the players and management of Rising Stars as they got promoted to the Bet9ja

Akinyemi said he felt elated with the promotion, saying, “perseverance and commitment paid off for us.”

The chairman noted that the boys had been playing and were well prepared for the encounter after playing different friendly matches.

Also Speaking, the Coach of the newly promoted side,Boye Ogunderu said he was happy that his team got promoted.

Ogunderu said his team was well prepared for the encounter and believed his side would win the encounter.

The coach thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the commissioner for Sports,Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye with the Chairman of the agency for the support.
