Reprieve has come the way ofAkure City Football Club as the management of Nationwide League One (NLO) rescinded its decision banishing the club to Ilorin Stadium for their next three home matches.
According to a release signed and made available to newsmen by the Chief Operating Officer of organisation, Olushola Ogunowo, the NLO said Akure City should continue to play their league match in the Akure Stadium but behind closed door for the next two home matches .
It also reduced the fine of N180,000 to N100,000 which must be paid before their next home match while the three points and three goals earlier awarded to Rising Stars Football Club of Akure remain sacrosanct.
Akure City FC had appealed and pleaded for clemency over the NLO earlier decisions which banished the Club to Ilorin for their remaining home matches.
In the appeal, Akure city promised to abide and respect the ethics of the game by respecting the guiding rules and regulations of the league.
NLO having reconsidered its earlier sanction on the club after the appeal, gave a stern warning to other clubs.
“The NLO emphasized that act of hooliganism has no place in the modern day football and inimical to the growth of the beautiful game of football in a developing country as ours”.
The body charged Ondo State Football Association (FA) to ensure maximum security in other matches to be played in the stadium.
