Adesina also lauded the State Government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for making sure that team maintain its status in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
He promised that the team would not disappoint soccer fans and supporters when the season begins and will justify government’s huge investment in it.
He also applauded the cooperation and understanding of players and the coaching crew which made them stick with the club despite several challenges that confronted it last year.
He assured that year 2021 will be positively different as all challenges and issues that nearly disrupted progress of the club shall be a thing of the past.
“I am happy to be back home after being held in Europe for months due to COVID-19. I’m particularly delighted that against all odds, Osun United remain a club in NNL due to the magnanimity of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, assistance of Hon. Ajibola Famurewa and efforts of the Commissioner and Special Adviser for Youth and Sports, Mr. Yemi Lawal and Aremo Gboyega Adelabu respectively.
“I commend you (players and coaches) for your perseverance during the trying time last year and I want to assure you that your welfare package shall be looked into for positive reviewing.”
Captain of the club, Hakeem Olalere appreciated the President and appealed to him to complete all arrangement and requirements for the team on time in order to avoid the repeat of last season’s league opener where things nearly fell apart.
