No actor can afford Range Rover through income– Bimbo Manuel
Veteran Nigerian actor, Bimbo Manuel, has voiced concerns over the financial struggles many Nollywood actors face, challenging common perceptions about the industry’s wealth.
Appearing on TVC’s programme, Your View, Manuel addressed the public’s view of affluence among Nigerian actors, suggesting it doesn’t always reflect the true financial reality within Nollywood.
In response to a host’s comment about the lack of transparency in disclosing actor fees compared to Hollywood, the 66-year-old actor attributed this difference to cultural and industry-specific factors.
“The experience you had counts, it suggests to whoever wants to hire what fee you command. It is also not a fixed rate, it fluctuates,” he explained.
Manuel further tackled the issue of whether actors in Nigeria could realistically afford luxury items, such as high-end vehicles, solely through their acting earnings.
“The actors you see flaunting Range Rovers and mansions in Ikoyi are living fake lives,” he stated. “There is no actor in Nigeria that would say he or she can buy a Range Rover from acting fees alone.”
