No going back on Port Ondo — Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has urged all the federal lawmakers from the state to collaborate and support the state’s endeavour to make the establishment of Olokola Deep Sea port come on stream soonest.

Akeredolu who emphasised that the Deep Sea port is essential for the economic development of the Sunshine State, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to actualising the project soon.

This is just as the Governor assented to the bill creating 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The Governor spoke during a Stakeholders’ meeting with members of the National Assembly from the State at the weekend.

At the meeting were: Senator representing Ondo North, Senator Jide Ipinsagba; members of the House of Representatives representing Owo/Ose, Timehin Adelegbe; Ilaje/Ese-Odo,  Donald Ojogo, Idanre/Ifedore, Hon. Festus Akingbaso; Okitipupa/Irele, Jimi Odimayo and Akoko South West/South East, Gboyega Adefarati.

Akeredolu assured that his administration would persist until a solid foundation is established for the Port Ondo.

The Governor also enjoined the federal lawmakers to work together across party lines, adding that they should always pursue the good of the people and the State.

Senator Ipinsagba who spoke on behalf of the National Assembly members, assured the Governor of the support of Ondo NASS Caucus and expressed gratitude to God for the Governor’s safe return and offered prayers for his continued protection and well-being.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Oladiji Olamide, during a brief ceremony presented the bill for the Governor’s assent.

The Deputy Speaker, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan; Majority Leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi; and the Parliamentary Secretary, Moyinoluwa Ogunwumiju were also present.

With the Governor’s assent, the bill, which had already been passed by the state House of Assembly, now possesses the legal backing for the creation of the LCDAs in Ondo State.
