Ondo state government will soon embark on the redeployment of primary school teachers across the state.

The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Mr. Victor Olabimtan made this known while speaking with Journalists in Akure.

Olabimtan said government was unhappy over lack of adequate teachers in primary schools outside urban areas despite the recruitment of new set of teachers in the state over a year ago.

The SUBEB boss said “the governor is not being appreciated for the good work he has done for primary education, that is why they concentrated all the teachers in Akure and the rural areas are not feeling it.”

Olabimtan said majority of the teachers posted to rural areas had failed to report at their duty posts thus affecting the education of the pupils.

“You cannot because of your comfort, discomfort others. There are some remote parts of the state without teachers, if they take them there they won’t go, why did you take the employment? There is scarcity of employment everywhere, they gave you one and you’re now dictating, government can no longer condone such,” Olabimtan said.

He explained that the planned reposting of the primary school teachers would not be reversed under any guise, urging those that would be affected to brace up to the government’s decision.

Olabimtan, a former speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly posited that government would not allow some teachers to use their comfort to jeopardise the future of the pupils in public primary schools in the state.

The SUBEB Chairman called on communities where primary schools are located to guard such facilities from vandalism.
