Contrary to mischief makers, there is no leadership vacuum in the administration of Ondo State, the State commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju has declared.
Olateju made the clarification yesterday while featuring on a Lagos based television station programme, Arise News
She said Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s resumption to office after his medical vacation has provided the stabilizing effect which was lacking while he was away.
The Commissioner explained that the division and polarization within the cabinet and the state are being healed gradually, ‘the stormy era is gone because the governor has provided leadership’.
According to her, “Akeredolu is in firm control, the governor is working, the commissioners are also working, and the state is running, there is no leadership vacuum.”
On the insinuation that the governor is not physically present in Ondo state, Olateju said the governor can work from anywhere. The nature of work has changed. We are in the era of remote work which permits the Governor to work from anywhere. Though the Governor is not physically present in Akure, he is doing everything a Governor is supposed to do. He will soon return to the state.
She observed that the gigantic construction work at the Onyearugbulem site, Akure where a flyover is being constructed, recent purchase of fire trucks and approval of hazard allowance for medical doctors evidently showed that there is no leadership vacuum in the state.
On what Akeredolu will be remembered for, she said her principal exuded excellent strength of moral courage in defending the South West from rampaging marauders when he established the Amotekun Corps.
Also, the State spokesperson said the governor’s recent breakthrough to obtain a license to establish the first Deep Sea Port in West Africa that will go two kilometers down as a remarkable achievement which will grant economic development to Ondo State.
Besides, she said the governor has also established an entrepreneur village under construction, first in Africa where a lot of youths will be gainfully engaged be it in education, health and agriculture.
She maintained that so much of his work will begin to ripen in 2027 to an extent that Ondo state can economically be like Lagos or even beat Lagos.
She therefore cautioned against the rancorous, divisive tendencies going on in the State, assuring that very soon, the governor will speak to the people of the state to thank them for their prayers and support.
She appealed to the governor’s traducers to allow him to breathe, saying it will amount to a twisted logic to call on President Tinubu to intervene in the political situation in Ondo, describing Ondo as an independent state with a sovereign right like the federal government.
