No school ‘ll left behind, ODSG assures

The construction, reconstruction and renovation of primary schools will cut across every nook and cranny of Ondo State, the state government has assured.

The Executive Chairman Ondo SUBEB, Victor Olabimtan made the promise when the Board embarked on schools’ resumption monitoring exercise to ascertain teachers and learners’ readiness for academic work in the final lap of 2022/2023 academic session.

The Chairman, who was represented by Full Time Member -1 Princess Funmilayo Ademulegun-Brown said schools would be upgraded to attract parents to enroll their wards into government-owned schools.

He promised that the board will look into inadequacies in the 2022/2023 action plan and carry out necessary actions to make public schools attractive to teachers and learners.

Olabimtan, who commended the teachers and learners warned that the Board will not take kindly to truancy and unnecessary absenteeism on the part of any staff.

The former Speaker Ondo State House of Assembly said the government will continue to do its best to meet and improve the welfare and working condition of teachers. He enjoined them to continue to do their best to ensure the  government huge investment in the basic education is not in vain.

The Chairman enjoined teachers to embark on aggressive pupils drive to improve enrollment into public schools.

According to Olabimtan, the State Government has invested heavily in the basic education sector by recruiting 1,200 teachers to fill critical vacancies and constructed, reconstructed and renovated over 800 schools as at last year and currently not less 100 schools are undergoing similar exercise across all the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.

He enjoined head teachers and teachers to collaborate with the stakeholders in their communities such as the traditional institutions, religious and influential members of the public.
