The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Okitipupa Local Government Chapter, has launched a roadshow aimed at raising security consciousness and combating the prevalent Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome in society.
The initiative, which is part of the government’s broader strategy to address terrorism, banditry, militancy, kidnapping, and armed robbery, sought to educate the public on the importance of vigilance in the fight against insecurity.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Bolanle Oguntuase, Deputy Director of the Okitipupa NOA chapter, underscored the country’s ongoing security challenges and emphasised the need for a unified effort to tackle these issues effectively.
She provided practical security advice, urging citizens to avoid predictable routines, limit their use of social media, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
In addition, Mrs. Oguntuase addressed pressing societal issues such as cybercrime and fraud, urging young people to reject the Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome and instead embrace hard work, dedication, and perseverance as keys to long-term success.
Mrs. Oguntuase also highlighted the importance of road safety, calling on motorists to drive with caution, avoid speeding, and follow safety guidelines, especially during the festive season.
Furthermore, she took the opportunity to educate attendees on the ongoing Lassa Fever outbreak, stressing the need for preventive measures to safeguard public health.
The roadshow involved various community groups, including market women, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Nigeria Union of Barbers, and others.
The outreach covered several strategic locations, such as Igodan Lisa, Irele Junction, Ode Ayeka, Ayeka Market, Okitipupa Market, Okitipupa Roundabout, NURTW Garage, Ode Aye Road, and the Ikoya/Ilutitun Road.
