By Bamidele Kolawole

An upcoming Afrobeats musician in Ondo State Victor Ojo popularly known as Nafey, has revealed that prompters and record labels are usually reluctant to sign upcoming artistes.
Nafey, who disclosed this in an interview with Friday Extravaganza, stated that most promoters believed that their voices (upcoming artistes) have not been heard, adding that this is killing my talents in the entertainment industry.
Nafey, who hails from Ipesi Akoko in Ondo State but was born and brought in Akure, said his aim to become great in the music industry, to be heard all over the universe, adding that he chose music because he loved it. “It is one of the things I cannot do without, it has become part of me from my childhood.”
“However, there are lot of challenges since I started my music career, it has been only God and no one else. No promoter , no sponsor, no record label.”
I have always loved music since day one, I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and I always want to be just like him, even as a brilliant child, I have always wanted music over anything,” he said.
He revered that he was motivated to go into music by his friends in school. “I do freestyles during my secondary school days and I noticed positive feedbacks only. People would say I am very good.
“My parents have been supporting me, but still working to be known to the world. But I believe in God. Sooner, my helper will locate me,” he said.
Nafey, however advised his colleagues in the music industry not to relent, keep on with the good work and should not take someone else as competitor because if they do, they may not discover the vibe and talent in them.
While speaking about music industry, Nafey, noted that ” the industry is doing fine, it depends on the kind of music you’re listening to, DAVIDO, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Mayorkun and other artistes to mention but a few are repping us well with good music.
Some good artistes have successfully taken the industry to another level, it’s now a worldwide competition for some of artistes.
The artiste is a graduate of Microbiology from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state.
