celebrates achievement, dedication of officers

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has announced its participation in the various activities aimed at promoting inclusive policing.

This comes as the Command reveals its plans to join the Nigerian Police Force authorities in commemorating National Police Day, as approved by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, noted that the historic event, which will run from April 2 to April 7, 2025, will feature a series of impactful humanitarian and community-based activities designed to foster stronger police-community relations.

National Police Day is intended to celebrate the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring national security. The event will serve as a platform to recognise the Force’s pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property while reinforcing public trust and collaboration in maintaining law and order.

The celebration will also pay tribute to the fallen heroes of the Force — police officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, even paying the supreme price by laying down their lives for the protection of the nation while on duty.

“The event will run from April 2 to April 7, 2025, with various activities within the Command, including:

  • Community Engagement
  • Medical Outreach
  • Security Meetings with Stakeholders
  • Walkathon, etc.

“Under the leadership of CP Mohammed Umar Abba, psc, the Osun State Police Command, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, calls on the good people of Osun State to join in celebrating the gallant officers of the Nigeria Police Force. We passionately seek their continued collaboration towards ensuring a safer and more secure Osun State.”
