Rehabilitation of the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state Capital has begun to ensure Sunshine Stars 2020/21 season home matches are played at the venue, Sporting Hope can confirm.
The State Government had earlier promised it would convince the League Management Company (LMC) with the acceleration renovation of the stadium to express readiness to play their home matches in Akure.
Sunshine Stars President, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi and the team’s Executive Director, Prince Tunde Ogunja were on ground monitoring and supervising the renovation when the Sporting Hope visited the complex.
Akinyemi in a chat with our correspondent reiterated the readiness of the team to complete the rehabilitation of the facilities within the time frame.
He said, “the cleaning up of the synthetic pitch has started, we will make sure the two floodlights are working, then the score board will be put in order, after we move to the dressing room and ensure the air-conditioning are functioning. We are going to ensure the other exit gate get a facelift as required by the LMC.
After putting all these in place, then we will call on the LMC that we have met their criteria. “he said.
He added: “We must do the needful, it’s a task that must be done, if we don’t do it and be playing in Benin City or Lagos, fans will not be happy, that is why we are aggressively working towards putting them in shape before the start of the league.”
