NPFL: Agoye shifts attention to Bayelsa United game
By Femi Atolagbe
Head coach of Sunshine Stars Football Club, Edith Agoye has shrugged off the disappointing 2-2 draw against Rangers International and focused on the next away match against Bayelsa United.
Agoye described the match as a poor game management, saying the encounter has almost gone in his team’s favour but lost concentration at the tail end of the game.
He added that his players were supposed to be keeping the ball in the corner flank to run the time, adding that the player that was instructed to do that was showing to the world that he is the most skilful player in the Nigerian League.
He stated this after his side played a 2-2 draw with Rangers International in the match day eight of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) decided at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure.
He said : “It was disappointing to draw a game they had in their hands, promising that he would turn the disappointment to motivation and would go for the win in Match day nine in Bayelsa United.”
The team was evolving and would continue to get better, match after match and when it happens, performance would improve.
Rangers had lashed home in the third minutes through Godwin Obaje with a header from a free kick to leave Sunshine Stars trailing till 13 minutes before Ibrahim Yusuf gave the home team a leveller from a clinical finish.
All efforts to take the lead from the home side proved futile until the 76th minute when Moses Omodumueke’s deflected shot found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
However, the home team’s celebration was cut off when the visitors equalised in the dying minutes of the game to bring the game to a 2-2 draw.
