NPFL MD 5: Kano Pillars pip Sunshine Stars

Sunshine Stars’ Technical Adviser, Kennedy Boboye, on Sunday stated that the result of the matchday five fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) against Kano Pillars did not reflect their performance.

Kano Pillars defeated Sunshine Stars 2-0 in the matchday five game played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, scoring in both halves through former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa.

Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper, Emmanuel Ofori, denied Ahmed Musa a hat-trick by saving a well-taken penalty from the former Super Eagles captain.

The Owena Whales defender, Ogechukwu Ogbu, received a straight red card after he stopped a goal-bound lob from Ahmed Musa with his hand inside the box.

In his post-match interview, Boboye said his side paid the price for not being clinical in front of goal, lamenting that they squandered many chances.

According to him, “It was a bad game for us. We played very well, but the result did not show how we performed.”

“We wasted many goal-scoring chances. If we had converted our chances, we would have been 4 goals up in the first half.

“When you fail to convert your chances, you get punished. Our opponents took theirs and made good use of them.

“We will keep working hard to ensure we win our next game against Rangers International,” he said.
