NPFL: Sunshine Stars defeat Rivers United, move to 17th position

Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure yesterday defeated Rivers United in the rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League match day 27 to move from 18th position to 17th.on the log.

Ibrahim Yusuf gave Owena Whales the lead in the 68th minute of the encounter played at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure.

The first half of the game  had ended in a goaless draw with the Sunshine Stars rued many goal scoring chances.

Sunshine Stars Coach, Kennedy Boboye in a chat with newsmen commended his players for playing to the game plan, saying he will continue to work hard.

According to him, “this game has come and gone, our focus now is on the next game which is federation cup , after that we will be playing host to Bendel insurance”

Our focus is to win our home matches and see how will get something out side, our major problem is how to be scoring goals ,but we will continue working to improve in that area.”

His counterpart, Rivers United coach, Evans Ogenyi attributed his side loss to fatigue saying,”the fixtures has not been easy for his side”.

He said: it has not been easy, but we have compelled to play five matches in 15 days,we have no choice than to play.

“Nevertheless, We are approaching every game with all sense of seriousness and determination this one as come and gone”.
