It was a moment of jubilation laced with victorious song at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure yesterday as Sunshine Stars FC pipped Wikki Tourists  2-1 in the week 17 of the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL).

Franklin Sasere gave the home team the lead in the 14th minute of the cagey  encounter.

Before Owena Whales midfielder, Anthony Omaka made it two for the Akure Landlords in the 29th minutes when he curled in an incisive cross from Tunde Adeniji .

The visitors reacted swiftly  to pull one back at the stroke of half time. The score line remained 2-1 going to the first 45 minutes.

Wikki Tourists came into the second half with more vigour and determination to surprise the home team for their first wasteful first half.

Though their efforts to level up were well tame by the Sunshine Stars back four.

Sunshine Stars assistance Coach, Saliu Subair during an interview , thanked God for the well earned three points, saying his team actually prepared well for the game with the zeal to defeat their visitors 4-0.

According to him, we have more than five chances that we were unable to convert in the first half due to un clinical characters of our boys in the front of the goal.

We are still on course, we still put our mind to play in super six, as for our next game against Remo Stars, we are going there with full force , hopefully we will get three points.
