Heartland FC on Sunday defeated Sunshine Stars 1-0 in the match day 11 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL played at Dan Anyim Stadium, Owerri.
The Akure based side went down to Christian Molokwu 8th minute goal , despite their dominant in the both halves of the encounter.
Heartland FC defenders were up to the task to tame the pressure from both flanks of the Sunshine Stars .
The Owena Whales came close to equalising in the 36th minute with Opeoluwa Olufemi’s efforts inched over the cross bar.
The second stanza of the clash produced no further goal as the hosts kept the maximum points in the kitty.
Sunshine Stars, Technical Adviser Kennedy Boboye in his post match, congratulated the Heartland for the victory , saying his playing did not show the outcome of the game.
According to him, “it was unfortunate that we didn’t take our chances when it came our way, that is football for us, you win some and lose some.”
Sunshine Stars will on match day 12 play host to Lobi Stars FC of Markurdi at their adopted home, Ijebu Ode.
