NSCDC arraigns sales rep for alleged N12m fraud

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State command has arraigned a middle-aged sales representative, Johnson Omoro, before an Akure Magistrates’, for alleged fraud involving N12million.
Omoro, who resides in Ore town, Ondo State was charged with one count charge of fraud.
The agency’s legal officer, M.I. Osimen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in November 2024, at the Oke-Aro area in Akure.
Osimen alleged that the defendant under pretence obtained goods worth N12 million from the complainant, one Obina Anykwa, with the intention to sell and return the proceeds.
The prosecutor said Omoro sold the goods and converted the proceed to his use
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Sections 450 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ondo State, 2006
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, while his counsel B. Iwabi urged the court to admit him to bail, with a pledge that he would not jump bail.
Iwabi told the court that the defendant had paid the complainant the sum of N8 million with the promise to balance him when due.
The Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Sekoni adjourned the case until April 23, for trial.
