NSCDC deploys 1,000 personnel for Eid-Fitr in Ondo

By Bukola Olamona

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed no fewer than 1,000 personnel across the state to ensure a hitch-free and secure Eid-Fitr celebration.

The deployment, according to the command, is aimed at maintaining public safety and forestalling any security threats that may arise during the festivities.

A statement issued after a working visit by the Ondo State NSCDC Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, in Akure on Thursday, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the period.

Commandant Ibiloye disclosed that the deployment strategy would focus on securing worship centres, protecting critical national assets, and ensuring the safety of government and private infrastructure.

He further noted that the NSCDC would work in synergy with other security agencies to bolster security operations across the state.

To achieve this, the command has mobilised specialised units, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Female Squad, Rapid Response Squad, and Surveillance Squad, to strategic locations. Additionally, operatives from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) team, as well as undercover personnel, will be on the ground to detect and prevent any potential threats.

Security personnel will be stationed at prayer grounds, shopping malls, amusement parks, and motor parks to enhance public safety.

Ibiloye assured that proactive measures would be taken to prevent security breaches while operatives would respond swiftly to any incidents that may arise.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by reporting any suspicious activities, emphasising that public support is crucial in maintaining peace and security during and after the celebrations.
