Determined to address lingering security issues affecting farmers in the state, the executive members of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress, the apex body representing farmers across the state, have visited the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

NSCDC, Ondo State Command, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, he stated, that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the NSCDC and the Congress in addressing security concerns affecting farmers.

The Congress acknowledged the crucial role played by the NSCDC Agro Rangers in safeguarding farmlands and ensuring the safety of farmers across the state.

Speaking during the visit, the President of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress, Farmer Monilari Abayomi, emphasised the importance of the partnership between farmers and the NSCDC in protecting agricultural investments.

“We believe that a strong partnership with the NSCDC will enhance security and create a more conducive environment for sustainable agricultural development,” he stated.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, CPO, MSPSP, appreciated the farmers’ executives for their visit and expressed satisfaction with the existing partnership, which he noted has significantly contributed to improving security and fostering a safer environment for agriculture.

He acknowledged the persistent clashes between farmers and herders, as well as the recent surge in kidnapping incidents.

However, he assured that security agencies in the state have intensified efforts to curb these threats.

To tackle the challenges effectively, he urged citizens and local communities to provide credible intelligence, while also revealing plans to deploy technology to monitor ungoverned spaces.

The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to securing farmlands and rural communities, calling on residents to collaborate by sharing vital information that could aid security operations.
