The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State, Oluyemi Ibiloye, has assured the Community Crime Prevention Initiative of Nigeria (CCPIN) of the corps’ readiness to strengthen ties with the group as part of efforts to deepen grassroots intelligence and enhance the security network across the state.
Speaking while receiving a delegation from the CCPIN led by its State Commander, Chief Olanrewaju Olowokere, in his office in Akure on Thursday, Ibiloye stressed the corps’ commitment to partnering with organisations genuinely concerned with protecting lives and property.
The NSCDC Commandant said, “We don’t shut our doors against willing partners. We welcome collaborations that promote peace and secure our communities.”
The assurance was contained in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Daniel Aidamenbor, and made available to Weekend Hope.
Ibiloye noted that Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful states in the country, attributing the feat to the synergy among heads of security agencies operating in the state.
On his part, the State Commander of CCPIN, Chief Olowokere, highlighted the relevance of grassroots intelligence in crime prevention. He disclosed that the Landlord Association subgroup under the CCPIN has played a significant role in sourcing valuable information from residents, particularly those unwilling to engage formal security structures.
“The eyes and ears of the people are our best assets. But we need synergy to process and act on what we gather. That’s why we’re here,” Olowokere stated.
Responding, Ibiloye assured the group of NSCDC’s willingness to maintain an open-door policy, saying: “Feel free to alert us on anything strange. Security is everybody’s business.”
