NSF: Ondo athletes resume camp, target top four

Ahead of Edo 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF), Ondo State athletes and their coaches have resumed to camp in high spirit.

The General Manager of the State Sports Council, Mr Wande Fabuluje in an interview with Sporting Hope, said it gladdens his heart that athletes resumed as planned in readiness to make the state proud at the festival.

He added that he would continue to go round the camp to ensure their welfare is well taken care of.

His words: “With the enthusiasm in the camp, we are sure of meeting up with our target of top four on the medals table, we are not unaware that other states are planning big ahead of the national fiesta, but with God on our side coupled with hard work on the side of our athletes and their coaches, we will match and surpass them this time .

“On our side as management, we will continue to put in our best to ensure we motivate.”

The trio of Handball Coach, Tommy Olalude, Hockey Head Coach, Mark Oloruntola, Head of Football Coach, Tijani Ibrahim, expressed their satisfaction towards the arrangement in camp.

According to them, “the arrangement of the camp is okay and the enthusiasm in the players are fantastic. They all resumed fully in high spirit, and in terms of feeding, the food being served to the athletes are good in quantity and in quality .

“Because in sports, feeding is very important, there must be correlation between the energy expended and intake, otherwise such a player is prone to injury, in this wise we commend the state government in this regard.”

They all promised to ensure Ondo State contingent do well at the festival and clinch as many gold as they could.

Some of the athletes who spoke with Sporting Hope reiterated that they are in high spirit and ready to make the state proud and surpass the feat recorded in the Abuja 2018 National Sports Festival.

They commended the government for the befitting camping arrangement, however, they pleaded with the Sports Council Management to help them put some faulty bathing room and electrical equipment in place.

“We are not bargaining for anything less than gold medal at Edo State 2020, with God on our side and consistent training, we will write the name of the state in gold at the festival,” they promidsed.
